Voice Activated R2-D2

Posted by on Apr 17, 2012 in Gear, Toys

Awwww yea! Now we’re getting somewhere! MorningLemon.com HQ has been waiting for this for quite a long time. This little feat of engineering genius will respond to upwards of 40 different voice commands, can protect the sanctity of your geek infused boudoir and will even get a bit cheaky from time to time. Oh R2, how we love you.

This motorized replica of the headstrong little “droid” from the iconic Star Wars films responds to voice commands, navigates rooms and hallways, and makes any home feel like it has been transported to a galaxy far, far away. R2 obeys more than 40 voice commands (“Turn around!,” “Move forward two units!”) and he plays games like tag, using an infrared sensor to search for people in a room. His sensor helps him follow behind you, or it can be set to detect motion, turning R2 into a room sentry that sounds an alarm when a secured area is invaded. R2′s lights, swiveling dome top, and distinctive happy and sad sounds faithfully mimic the real thing, right down to his occasional “bad mood.” (A simple command of, “R2, behave yourself!” snaps him out of it.) R2 can also replay sounds and dialog from Star Wars movies, answer yes-or-no questions, and dance while playing the famed cantina music. Requires four AA batteries and four D batteries. Minor assembly required. Ages 8 and up. 15″ H x 7 1/2″ W x 10 1/2″ L. (6 lbs.)

Oakley Radarlock Sunglasses feature removable swap out lenses

Posted by on Apr 5, 2012 in Gear, Sports

New from Oakley this month is an update to the RadarLock line of Sunglasses. A simple hinge design will allow you to swap out your lenses based on your environmental requirements.

I will admit, I don’t think I’m active enough to require a set of sunglasses with specific lenses based on specific environmental factors. However, I endeavour to be.

I can see the weekend warrior, the mountain biker who requires an element of protection needing to adapt to varying conditions. Or, if you’re an outfielder – and really concerned with your slo-pitch effectiveness and ability to perform to your peak, you may require the ability to swap out your lenses.

You may have a condition that means you are susceptible to changing light conditions. If so, these are your sunglasses.

I will say one thing about the Oakley Corporation. Oakley does not design cheap, flimsy, b.s. products that will break or lose their effectivenss quickly. I’ve gathered this information over numerous test cases, be it sunglasses or flip flops. You can be sure that your investment in an Oakley product, providing you don’t lose them, or your dog eats them, will be well made. Not something you can say about a lot of other companies. Oakley truly, truly, makes a good product and won’t put a product to market unless it’s going to last. Just look at their military contracts for even more evidence.

Yes, you read that correctly. A new service, that requires you to authorize them as an app on your twitter feed, will print your feed on to four rolls of premium ass-wipe and deliver them straight to your door step, all for the low price of $35.

A novelty gift to be sure, I mean, I know I normally don’t wipe my poop-pipe with anything less than a couple Benjamin’s but I might just give in to GetShitter.com for the shear joy of making poop smears out of my Twitter feed.

This is progress, I think.

$35 – pack of four.

Game of Thrones Playing Cards

Posted by on Mar 30, 2012 in 1, Gear, Toys

I love the catch phrase on the box – “You Win or You Die!” If only things were quite that dramatic we might actually accomplish the more menial tasks around here, but I digress.

Do you like Game of Thrones (who doesn’t?), do you like playing cards (who doesn’t?) – then it most certainly makes sense to combine them, no? Oui, indeed, it most certainly does.

The best part is, they’re really rather inexpensive at $4.99 and would probably set hearts aflutter among the most ardent Game of Thrones fans in your life. Do ‘em favor, get ‘em some playing cards.

The Hunger Games Trilogy

Posted by on Mar 20, 2012 in Books, Feature, Gear

With the first instalment of the movie trilogy on it’s way to theatres, I decided to give the Hunger Games Trilogy a go. It’s interesting to me how, without question, the most pertinent and voracious readers and writers both live and breath within a much younger demographic.

Generally, books without pictures were for old people. There’s been something of a renaissance since the likes of J.K. Rowling and Stephanie Meyer made books cool for tweens. When I was younger, the height of literary genius were the choose-your-own-adventure books. Boy, have times changed, and what an exceptional triumph it’s been for publishers.

The Hunger Games, I think, tops them all – as it lends itself to both sexes, and a slightly older audience than the Harry Potter books. Very much enjoyed, very much recommended.

The extraordinary, ground breaking New York Times bestsellers The Hunger Games and Catching Fire, along with the third book in The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay, are available for the first time ever in a beautiful boxset edition. Stunning, gripping, and powerful. The trilogy is now complete!

Nike Method Concept Putter

Posted by on Mar 19, 2012 in Gear, Sports

Every so often Nike comes up with new concept for a putter for their method line of clubs. The new concept is striking, whether it’s the red face or the d-shaped head, the putter will have tongues wagging all over the greens. The club face has tiny little polymetal grooves inset that are designed to grab the ball at impact and get it rolling faster and on the intended target line.

The front section of the club constitutes only a third of the clubs overall weight, with the additional two thirds being housed within the D-shaped head. This gives the club a very deep centre of gravity which should increase the stability and striking ability of the putter.

Beyond that, she’s a looker.

A lightweight aluminum face and a high-mass steel body position the center of gravity farther back and lower, delivering a faster roll and the stability of a larger mallet.

Callaway RAZR Fit Driver

Posted by on Mar 16, 2012 in Gear, Sports

Not to be outdone by the TaylorMade R11S we featured a couple days ago, the Callaway RAZR Fit Driver is also an adjustable beast of epic distance and control.

The technology behind Golf equipment has taken the game to new heights in the past 10 to 15 years. Every single edge and dynamic of every single piece of possible equipment one can carry on the course has been broken down, analysed, restructured, rebuilt and re-engineered for a supposedly better product. There’s failures and successes in those years, but most of the larger failures are closer to the beginning of that process, while we toil at the very end of engineering heights for golf products. We’re where failures have been already resolved.

In other words, we’re not on creating the first generation of adjustable drivers anymore, we’re on the 6th and subsequent generations, the kinks have been dutifully ironed out. These bad boys are good.

Furthermore, should you ever find yourself mandated with the uneinviable task of driving a golf ball over the Bellagio Fountains into a large lighted and lifted bullseye target, make no mistake, this is your driver. Drive the crowd wild, drive with a RAZR.

The combination of Forged Composite and OptiFit Technology makes Callaway’s first driver featuring adjustability the performance leader. The OptiFit Hosel allows players to adjust the face angle for improved accuracy and trajectory while the OptiFit Weights can be adjusted to promote either Draw or Neutral ball flights. Golfers can dial in their ideal settings and hit drives like never before with simple adjustability that matters.

Environmentally Friendly Tube Toys

Posted by on Feb 29, 2012 in Gear, Toys

Tube Toys are an Oscar Diaz project that focused on making sure the product had little to no disposable packaging. The proof is in the pudding, as they say.

The ‘Tube Toys’ are a series of vehicles to assemble where the packaging is also part of the product, reducing considerably the amount of material discarded after purchase, and the added cost that traditional packaging involves.
